Important New Film about Autism - "Spellers" available this weekend at The Highwire! Please don't miss this free event

J.B. and Jamison Handley’s book Underestimated is one of the few books in recent years I’ve read more than once. It’s just that good. It’s just that inspirational and in some way, it’s just that horrifying. For decades, those with autism who were unable to speak were considered ‘mentally retarded’ and often institutionalised. Now, through an amazing new therapy outlined in the book and discussed in the film, we know that instead, brilliant minds are locked in many of those bodies that are simply not capable of communicating via speech.

Jamison’s story

Jamison developed autism as a result of his vaccines and until he was 17, he was unable to communicate with those who loved him dearly other than simple words and phrases and echolalic repetition.

His parents thought that he was incapable of thinking, learning and being the person he was born to be. They discovered how wrong that was when they discovered a new therapy that allowed Jamison to show his towering intellect and to be able to communicate with those around him.

This weekend, The Highwire will be streaming a new documentary, Spellers, about this therapy. The stream will be followed by a live Q & A with the cast. This will be saved and streamed all weekend until it’s taken down on May 8th US time so you have all weekend in Australia to watch it.

The live stream starts at 5 PM EST in the US which is 7 AM AEST. But it will be on repeat all weekend - please let others know as well.
