Great letter to Coles from one of our Informed Choice readers. Please feel free to use these points to write your own letter to them
Don't just copy and paste though if possible - personalise it for your own situation/area.
Thank you to Happy Days who has sent this letter to Coles from QLD. She has very kindly offered to allow me to share it here for others to use.
If you haven’t yet read my earlier Substack Post on Coles QLD’s plans to get rid of all checkouts, leaving only self-serve options, you can do so at this link. You can also contact Coles with your own letters at the link on this page.
Thank you so much to Happy Days for her excellent (and very quick!) response. Here’s hoping enough of you will do the same/share this with others to stop this multinational corporation from throwing honest, hard-working Australians out of work.

RE: self-serve transition and the absence of humanity in your decisions
__________________________________________________________________________
To Whom It May Concern
I am writing to express extreme disagreement with your choice to convert Coles grocery stores to selfservice, as announced in recent various news articles.
Having been a loyal Coles shopper for years, I have seen your choices and services radically decline, sidelining the human aspect.
This was most notable when you illegally forced C-19 injection mandates onto your staff members, putting lives in peril. It was never legislation. And the decision was even abdicated by the sitting PM.
Surely, by now, you will have seen the plethora of reports of adverse reactions which include life-debilitating conditions, immediate and/or early death.
Such data was available from early 2020. It was incumbent upon you as caretakers of your staff members’ wellbeing to do due diligence – especially since the governments has passed the buck onto the private sector. Such bureaucratic tyranny for something now admitted to be no more/less of a concern than the flu.
You will perhaps now also be becoming aware that class action court cases are in progress to sue those who wrongfully forced people into this dangerous medical procedure.
You have breached human rights.
And now – with the intention to shift fully to self-service – you again demonstrate your disregard for the human element of the most basic necessity – people providing for their food – whether they are customers, or employees in gainful employment to earn their living – and thus feed themselves.
For some time, I changed my shopping habits re: Coles. And I am not alone. We have not abandoned you: you discriminated against us.
When I have shopped in one of your stores, I have ALWAYS selected a staffed check out service. And I have used cash.
Given this latest development, I really must thank you for making it definitively clear that my patronage is better directed elsewhere. I will be informing people in my network of the #BoycottColes movement that has launched. And why.
Since you demonstrate you no longer wish to have people in your store, perhaps this will reflect back to you your wish fulfilled.
I do not bid you good day!
Queenslander - liberated from your food tyranny.
How’s that for self-service?!
May hundreds or thousands (or, dare I hope, more?) of you take this action today. Trust me - it WILL change things for the better if you do.
